Accessibility
A website that excludes someone betrays the reason it exists. That is why, for us, accessibility is not a box to tick, but part of how we build.
Our commitment
Isola works so that no one is left behind: it would be contradictory if our own website then shut out people who browse with a screen reader, people who do not use a mouse, or people who need larger text or stronger contrast. We choose to attend to accessibility even where the law would not require it.
Standards followed
The website is designed according to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA and the European standard EN 301 549.
Conformance status
Under review. The automated check has been run on every page: the whole website passes it. Two checks remain that require a person rather than a tool. We will publish the precise status here, fully or partially conformant, once those are complete too.
We prefer to state it when we can demonstrate it: claiming a conformance that has not yet been verified would be worse than not claiming it at all.
What we have checked
On 15 October 2026 we checked all 373 pages of the website with axe-core 4.13, against the WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 rules at levels A and AA, at two screen widths: 1280 pixels (desktop) and 375 pixels (mobile). 746 analyses in total. No violations were found on any page.
We tested the agenda and the events archive by hand, using the keyboard alone: the order in which focus moves from one control to the next, the focus indicator that shows where you are, and that the archive filters say which one is active even to people who cannot see the colour. On 22 September we had also checked by hand that the content works at a width of 320 pixels, the same condition as someone zooming the page to 400%, without scrolling sideways, and that the “Skip to content” link really does lead to the content.
Known limitations
The latest automated check, on 15 October 2026, found no limitations. Pages are checked once they have fully loaded, when every section is visible.
What is still missing
- A test with a real screen reader (VoiceOver or NVDA) on the main pages. Automated checks read the structure, not the experience of someone listening to the page.
The website does not embed videos: event recordings are links to the videos on YouTube, where subtitles depend on the platform.
An automated check catches about a third of the WCAG criteria. Passing it is necessary, not sufficient: that is why we do not yet write “conformant”.
Found a barrier?
If any part of the website is difficult or impossible for you to use, please tell us: it is the most useful information we can receive. If you can, tell us the page and what you were trying to do.
